4/3/2025 8:41:00 AM | Stunt
MARTIN, Tenn. – The inaugural Mid America West Conference Championship event will be held this weekend as the University of Tennessee at Martin STUNT squad is one of seven teams to invade Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
The Skyhawks received the No. 3 seed after going 8-4 overall with a 5-2 mark in league play this spring. The No. 1 seed went to Kentucky, who receives a first-round bye in the double-elimination tournament. Trevecca Nazarene claimed the No. 2 seed and following UT Martin is No. 4 Mercyhurst, No. 5 Missouri State, No. 6 Central Arkansas and No. 7 Northern Kentucky.
Eight games are scheduled for Friday, April 4 as the Skyhawks will make their tournament debut against No. 6 Central Arkansas at noon CT. If UT Martin advances in the winner's bracket, it will take on the victor of the Trevecca Nazarene/Northern Kentucky matchup at 3 p.m. CT. If the Skyhawks fall in their opener, they will play at 4 p.m. CT against the loser of the Mercyhurst/Missouri State contest.
Four games are scheduled for Saturday, April 5 with start times listed as 10 a.m. CT, 11:30 a.m. CT and 1 p.m. CT before the championship outing at 2:30 p.m. CT.
UT Martin enters the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the nation, generating eight wins in its last nine decisions while outscoring the opposition by a whopping 136-62 margin over that span. The eight triumphs are already three more than its inaugural campaign in 2024.
On the season, Emily Hartley accounts for a team-best 117 points while Addison Cary (113), Ashley Myles (106), Emily Wood (103) and Kaity Mistretta (102) have also reached triple digits in the scoring column. The freshman duo of CeCelia Dollison and Ali Workman are also on the cusp with 99 and 98 points, respectively, while Braylee Smith has averaged just a shade under 10 points per game (9.4) over the last five appearances. Overall, 25 separate Skyhawks have registered at least 18 total points on the season to create a balanced scoring attack.
