UT Martin Skyhawk Club
Hello Skyhawk Fans,
We have put the finishing touches on yet another great year in UT Martin Athletics and are looking forward to carrying over that success into the 2025-26 season.
Last season, our Skyhawk football team won its fourth straight conference championship and won a game in the Division I FCS playoffs for the second time in school history. Our UT Martin equestrian squad also won a league title and was selected as an at-large participant in their national championship tournament for the first time in school history. We also boasted the Ohio Valley Conference individual champion in golf as Jonathan Xoinis advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
Our most impressive feat came in the classroom as our 450 student-athletes combined for a phenomenal 3.37 Grade Point Average in the spring semester. That was the best academic performance in school history and the 11th consecutive semester where our department has posted at least a 3.20 GPA. For the entire 2024-25 campaign, Skyhawk Athletics tallied a 3.35 GPA and had 58 student-athletes with a flawless 4.0 GPA. We were also fortunate enough to claim two of the six OVC Scholar-Athletes as Xoinis and soccer’s Izzy Patterson were named to the league’s highest individual accolade.
Outside of the playing field, our student-athletes combined for 5,400 hours of community service. We are always proud to give back to the West Tennessee community that treats our department and our student-athletes so well.
The upcoming 2025-26 season projects to be one of the most exciting in school history. We have a few dates for you to mark on your calendars, starting with the second annual Skyhawk Palooza free community event on Sept. 11. Our Homecoming football game is scheduled for Oct. 11 while the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team will visit the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center on Nov. 9 for the first time in nearly three decades. We are also hosting the 2026 OVC Championship events in rifle (Feb. 7-8) and beach volleyball (April 23-25) while our 58th Annual Spring College Rodeo will take place on April 9-11. We encourage you to stay involved with many more announcements on the new and improved UTMSports.com, which we relaunched on May 1.
As changes in collegiate athletics continue to dominate the news waves, your support has never been more important. We implemented major facility upgrade projects in football (restored weight room and branding), soccer (new sound system) and baseball (new grass playing surface) and have many more on the horizon.
With your generosity, we can continue our reputation as one of the best all-around athletic departments in the OVC. Whether you are a longtime supporter or are considering donating for the first time, please know that your financial contributions matter. You are helping a student-athlete achieve their dreams and we are so glad to count you as a major part of our team.
Go Skyhawks!
Kurt McGuffin, Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics
WELCOME TO THE UT MARTIN SKYHAWK CLUB
The Skyhawk Club is UT Martin's official organization for generating private financial support to our athletic programs. All funds are managed through the Athletic Development Coordinator in accordance with the University's official policies and procedures and approved Skyhawk Club guidelines. Contributions through the Skyhawk Club help expand scholarship opportunities for student-athletes, maintain and improve physical facilities, provide academic support programming, and many other resources necessary to help our teams compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Skyhawk Club members are represented by a board of directors which includes members of the athletics staff as well as off-campus Skyhawk Club members. This board meets twice each year to advise the Chancellor and the Director of Athletics on matters involving fund-raising issues and initiatives. Contributions through the Skyhawk Club can be made to intercollegiate athletics in general, or may be restricted to a specific sport or program. Documentation is maintained to ensure that all donor's contributions benefit their designated program. This represents contributions from over 1300 active Skyhawk Club members who are helping to give our student-athletes the best opportunity to succeed! Click HERE for printable brochure.
