
UT Martin Coasts Past Northern Kentucky In Opening Round Of Mid America West Conference Championship

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Mid America West Conference STUNT Championship tournament got underway tonight as the University of Tennessee at Martin squad passed its first test with flying colors in a 24-8 triumph over Northern Kentucky.
With the win, the No. 3 seed Skyhawks (14-4) advance to take on No. 2 seed Missouri State tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. UT Martin will then play again at either 1:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. with a potential third game of the day looming at 4 p.m. depending on the previous results.
In its 2026 MAWC Championship debut, UT Martin never trailed en route to improving to 4-0 all-time against the Norse. The Skyhawks led 4-2 after the partner stunts first quarter and expanded that lead out to 7-3 at halftime following the pyramids and tosses second quarter. UT Martin took a 13-6 edge after the jumps and tumbling third quarter before wrapping up the victory by outscoring Northern Kentucky by an 11-2 margin in the team routine fourth quarter.
Jennifer Jaco topped the Skyhawks in scoring for the first time this season as the sophomore out of Benton, Ky. compiled 15 points. Also scoring in double figures for UT Martin was Addison Cary (13 points), Emmy Melton (11) and Braylee Smith (11) while Kira Butz, RyanBeth Goodman, Emma Phelps, Sidnee Smith, Aurora Masden, Alyssa Calamia and Emily Wood each accounted for nine points apiece.
