
Skyhawks Fly Into Mid America West Conference Championship Sunday With A Pair Of Clutch Wins

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin STUNT program is one of three teams alive in the hunt for a 2026 Mid America West Conference Championship as the No. 3 seed Skyhawks advanced to the final day of the league's tournament today.
After UT Martin fell victim to a fourth quarter comeback win against No. 2 seed Missouri State to begin the day, the Skyhawks rallied for victories over No. 5 seed Central Arkansas (33-16) and No. 4 seed Mercyhurst (29-22) to stave off elimination. UT Martin (16-5) is now set for a rematch with No. 2 seed Missouri State tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. with the winner of that matchup earning the right to take on No. 1 seed Kentucky for the league crown at 3 p.m.
The Skyhawks led at the end of the first, second and third quarters against Missouri State this morning but the Bears posted a come-from-behind victory. UT Martin held an 8-4 advantage following the first quarter (partner stunts) and took a 12-8 lead into the halftime break after another successful second quarter (pyramids and tosses). The Skyhawks led by a 16-14 margin following the third quarter (jumps and tumbling) but unfortunately, Missouri State outscored UT Martin 17-13 in the fourth quarter (team routine).
Emily Wilcher and Livia Comuzie each provided 10 points apiece to lead the Skyhawks in scoring for the first time this spring. RyanBeth Goodman, Sidnee Smith, Addison Cary, Alyssa Calamia, Mia Henry and Emily Wood each followed closely behind with nine points each.
UT Martin then thrived in a must-win situation against Central Arkansas, improving to 9-0 all-time against the Bears. The Skyhawks led 3-2 following the partner stunts first quarter and expanded their lead out to 11-6 after the pyramids and tosses second quarter. UT Martin's lead stood at 18-11 following the jumps and tumbling third quarter before tacking on 15 more points in the team routine fourth quarter.
Jennifer Jaco led the Skyhawks in scoring for the second time in as many days with 17 points. Braylee Smith (11), Goodman (10), Sidnee Smith (10), Cary (10), Calamia (10) and Wood (10) also reached double figures in the scoring column for UT Martin.
Once again with their backs against the wall, the Skyhawks avenged a March 19 overtime loss to the Lakers in their third game in a five-hour span. UT Martin faced a 5-4 deficit at the end of the first quarter (partner stunts) before battling back to even the score at 7-all after the second quarter (pyramids and tosses). The Skyhawks raced ahead for a 13-11 advantage following the third quarter (jumps and tumbling) and sealed the victory by outscoring the Lakers 16 to 11 in the fourth quarter (team routine).
Braylee Smith topped UT Martin in scoring for the 14th time this season, recording 15 points. Jaco checked in with 14 points while Kira Butz (10), Cary (10) and Aurora Masden (10) each additionally racked up double-digit scoring performances.
