MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin will compete for a national title this week as the Skyhawks are one of four squads to occupy the Division I STUNT National Championship bracket. The tournament will take place on Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25 on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.
For the first time ever, the entire STUNT National Championship tournament will be held in the same city as the Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and Club division champions will be crowned in Nashville (at both Lipscomb and Trevecca Nazarene).
UT Martin earned the No. 3 seed in the 2025 Division I field after accounting for a 10-6 overall record and 5-2 mark against Mid America West Conference competition. That marks a 3.5-game improvement from last season's inaugural campaign when the Skyhawks also made an appearance in the Division I National Championship, earning a victory over Central Arkansas while falling twice to Kentucky.
A total of six games will take place in the Division I event as No. 1 seed Cal Baptist and No. 4 seed Mercyhurst start the event tomorrow at 8 a.m. UT Martin follows with a matchup against No. 2 seed Kentucky at 9:15 a.m. The two teams who lost their first-round matchups will play in an elimination contest at 3 p.m. before the two first-round winners round out Day 1 with a game at 4:15 p.m.
The consolation bracket winner will be decided at 8:45 a.m. on Friday before the winner-take-all Division I championship game is set for 1:45 p.m.
This week will serve as the first action for the Skyhawks since earlier this month as UT Martin has been idle from competition since going 2-2 in the Mid America West Conference Tournament held in Lexington, Ky. One of the Skyhawks' two triumphs in that tournament came against potential Division I National Championship opponent Mercyhurst as UT Martin knocked off the Lakers by a 16-12 margin on April 5. The Skyhawks also achieved the first perfect game in school history during their conference tournament, defeating Central Arkansas by a 24-0 margin.
UT Martin head coach Amber Minton touts a well-balanced lineup that is headed by all-conference first-teamer Emily Hartley (team-best 159 points). Addison Cary follows closely behind with 155 points while Ashley Myles (142), Kaity Mistretta (139), Emily Wood (139), Ali Workman (135), CeCelia Dollison (124), Braylee Smith (118) and Livia Comuzie (100) have all reached triple-digits in the season scoring tab.
