MARTIN, Tenn. – A thrilling end to the University of Tennessee at Martin's home STUNT tournament was in store today as the Skyhawks moved to 10-0 with a come-from-behind 29-26 triumph over Maryville. Earlier in the day, UT Martin kept its unbeaten streak intact with a 30-6 victory over Northern Kentucky.
It was an emotional atmosphere from the start as Natalie King, Emmy Melton, Raegan Taylor and Emily Wilcher were honored on Senior Day, competing inside Skyhawk Fieldhouse for the final time. UT Martin then improved to 4-0 in Mid America West Conference play with its victory over Northern Kentucky before extending its own school record for longest winning streak – already tying for the most single-season wins in program history (set in 2025).
The Skyhawks never trailed in their matchup against Northern Kentucky, taking a 6-2 lead following the first quarter (partner stunts). UT Martin expanded its advantage out to 12-4 after the second quarter (pyramids and tosses) before leading by a 17-5 margin following the third quarter (jumps and tumbling). The Skyhawks put the finishing touches on the dominant performance with a 13-1 effort in the fourth quarter (team routine).
UT Martin was tested throughout in its second game of the day, trailing after each quarter until yet another standout effort in the final quarter. The Skyhawks trailed 5-4 after the partner stunts first quarter before the two teams played evenly (5-5) in the pyramids and tosses second quarter. Both sides once again notched six points apiece in the jumps and tumbling third quarter, resulting in a 16-15 UT Martin deficit. The Skyhawks evened up the score at 19-all after the first round of the team routine fourth quarter before taking a 27-24 lead following the third round of the fourth quarter. UT Martin did not relinquish that lead the rest of the way for its most impressive win so far in 2026.
The Skyhawks will play their next three games in Nashville, Tenn. as UT Martin takes on Mercyhurst on Thursday, March 19 before battling Cal Baptist and East Stroudsburg on Friday, March 20.
