2/1/2025 11:47:00 PM | Stunt
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin STUNT team crossed its first two games off the 2025 schedule today, falling in a pair of tough matchups to Mid America West Conference foes Trevecca Nazarene (21-6) and Kentucky (24-0).
In the official season opener against the Trojans, the Skyhawks were outscored by a 4-0 margin in the first quarter (partner stunts) before earning their first point of the season in the second quarter (pyramids and tosses). Trailing by an 8-2 margin halfway through the game, UT Martin collected two more points in the third quarter (jumps and tumbling) before tacking on three more points in the fourth quarter (team routine).
The trio of Emily Hartley, Ashley Myles and Emily Wood each tallied a team-high six points for the Skyhawks with Braylee Smith and CeCelia Dollison following closely behind with nine points apiece.
Later in the day against the Wildcats, UT Martin battled but could not match the defending Division I national runner-up. Kentucky was able to register all 24 points awarded by the judges despite a valiant effort from the young Skyhawk crew.
UT Martin looks for its first victory of the 2025 campaign tomorrow when it takes on Ashland (11 a.m. CT) and MAWC rival Mercyhurst (2 p.m. CT) in Lexington, Ky.
