
UT MARTIN SOFTBALL HOSTS IN-STATE FOE MIDDLE TENNESSEE FOR MIDWEEK CONTEST

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will wrap up its five-game homestand with a non-conference matchup against in-state foe Middle Tennessee on Wednesday, April 3. First pitch from Bettye Giles Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Skyhawks (23-14) look to continue their hot play at home, boasting an 8-3 record in games played at Bettye Giles Field this season. In the team's most recent series against Morehead State, the Skyhawks saw their bats come alive in a big way, tallying 21 runs in the doubleheader while allowing just three runs on the pitching side. Highlighting the series was the play of junior outfielder Aalia Bivens who went 4-for-5 in the series with a double, two home runs and six RBIs. Meanwhile, Haylee Short went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Offensively, the team is led by sophomore Paige Clark who ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .430 batting average while tallying three doubles, two triples, a home run and 19 RBIs along with 24 stolen bases – which ranks 11th nationally. As a whole, four different players enter the series hitting over .300 including Clark, Short (.320), Bivens (.311) and Georgia Land (.310).
On the pitching side, four different Skyhawks have posted starts on the season. Freshman Erin Gallagher (6-1, 2.48 ERA) paces the squad in wins, ERA and innings pitched. Junior Hannah Ridolfi (6-5, 3.65 ERA) and freshman Lexi Ray (6-4, 3.38 ERA) have also tallied six wins on the season.
Middle Tennessee (21-16) enters the matchup having won six of their last seven meetings. The Blue Raiders are led offensively by the play of Summer Burgess with a .346 batting average, four doubles and 10 RBIs. Meanwhile, Jocelynn De La Cruz and Lexi Cushing pace the squad with eight doubles and 24 RBIs each while Cushing boasting a team-leading 10 home runs.
On the pitching side, Corrina Dodd (10-3, 3.06 ERA) leads the team in 80.0 innings of work while Amber Baldwin (5-1, 2.38 ERA) and Kailey Ahlstrom (5-6, 3.10 ERA) rank as the team's other starters.
