The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will take a break from Ohio Valley Conference play with a matchup at Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss on Tuesday, April 16. First pitch from the Ole Miss Softball Complex is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be seen on SEC Network +.
The Skyhawks (25-19) head to Oxford looking to snap a four-game losing streak after dropping a pair of home doubleheaders to Southeast Missouri and Murray State last weekend. UT Martin has fared well against non-conference opponents this season, posting an 18-12 record while going 8-6 on the road.
UT Martin boast three players hitting about .300 on the season, including Paige Clark who recently saw her on-base streak come to a halt at 29 games against Murray State. Clark paces the team with a .422 batting average along with eight extra base hits, 20 RBIs and 26 stolen bases out of the leadoff spot. Junior Haylee Short and Aalia Bivens make up the rest of the outfield trio, boasting .325 and .313 batting averages, respectively.
All four Skyhawk pitchers have been used equally this season with freshman Erin Gallagher (6-2, 2.37 ERA) leading the team with 76.2 innings pitched while junior Hannah Ridolfi (7-7, 3.61 ERA) is close behind with 75.2 innings in the circle.
Ole Miss (30-11) resides in the potent SEC while recording an impressive 17-3 record at games played at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. The Rebels are paced by senior outfielder Kylan Becker in most statistical categories with a .439 batting average, 39 runs scored, seven triples, 20 RBIs and 23 stolen bases on the season. Meanwhile the tandem of Jessica Puk (eight home runs, 27 RBIs) and Abbey Latham (seven home runs, 37 RBIs) provide much of the run production.
The Rebels are led in the circle by Molly Jacobsen with a 12-4 record and 1.70 ERA in a team-high 115.1 innings of work. Brittany Finney (11-5, 2.27 ERA) and Ava Tillmann (6-2, 2.64 ERA) have also posted strong campaigns.
Tuesday's matchup will mark the 17th meeting between the two programs with Ole Miss holding 12-4 advantage in the series. Additionally, the Rebels have won four straight against the Skyhawks dating back to 2017.
