UT MARTIN DROPS SOFTBALL DOUBLEHEADER TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team saw its Ohio Valley Conference homestand hit a snag on Wednesday afternoon as the Skyhawks dropped both halves of the doubleheader against Southeast Missouri by scores of 1-0 and 6-0.
The Skyhawks (25-17, 7-5 OVC) struggled to string much together in both games, tallying just three hits in the Game 1 before seeing an uptick with eight hits in the finale. Four different Skyhawks tallied multi-hit outings including Haylee Short, Chelsey Gore, Paige Clark and Alli Fulcher. Highlighting the contest was Clark extending her on-base streak to 28 games.
Three pitchers saw action for the Skyhawks with Hannah Ridolfi (6-6) pitching a gem despite being hit with the loss after allowing one earned run while striking out four in seven innings of work. Erin Gallagher (6-2) started Game 2, allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings. Caitlin Karo then allowed three earned runs in 1.1 innings.
UT Martin will return to action with a doubleheader against OVC rival Murray State on Friday, April 12. First pitch from Bettye Giles Field is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
