
UT MARTIN SOFTBALL TO HOST EASTERN KENTUCKY AND MOREHEAD STATE WITH OVC DOUBLEHEADERS

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will return to Ohio Valley Conference action with a pair of doubleheaders against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State over the weekend. The Skyhawks will play host to Eastern Kentucky on Friday, March 29 with action beginning at 4 p.m. before hosting Morehead State on Sunday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
The Skyhawks (21-12, 3-1 OVC) have played well in league play to date, winning three of four matchups against Belmont and Tennessee State last weekend. During the opening weekend, the Skyhawks posted a .284 batting average with six extra base hits and 16 stolen bases while notching a team EAR of 2.59 in 27 innings of work.
Sophomore Paige Clark leads the Skyhawks with a .427 batting average which ranks third in the OVC while leading the league with 22 stolen bases. Seniors Alli Fulcher and Gracyn McBride lead the team with five home runs each while tallying 21 and 22 RBIs, respectively. As a team, UT Martin ranks sixth nationally with 2.66 stolen bases per game.
UT Martin boasts four potential starters in the rotation. Freshman Lexi Ray (6-4, 3.16 ERA) leads the team with six wins while fellow classmate Erin Gallagher (5-1, 2.46 ERA) has been arguably the Skyhawks most consistent pitcher. Caitlin Karo (5-3, 3.18 ERA) and Hannah Ridolfi (5-4, 4.06 ERA) are also expected to see action over the weekend.
Eastern Kentucky (16-11, 3-1 OVC) won three of four home matchups against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last weekend to open league play. The defending OVC champions are led offensively by Hannah Clark who possesses a .388 batting average with nine doubles, nine home runs and 35 RBIs on the season. The Colonels boast three talented pitchers in Mollie Paulick (6-4, 2.98 ERA), Bethany Todd (4-0, 3.28 ERA) and Samantha Reynoso (4-1, 3.65 ERA).
Morehead State (2-21, 0-4 OVC) is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak – including dropping all four games against Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech last weekend. The Eagles are led offensively by Princess Valencia with a .429 batting average. Lakyn Largen (0-13, 8.13 ERA) paces the squad with 48 innings pitched.
