SKYHAWK BASEBALL TO HOST CO-OVC LEADER TENNESSEE TECH FOR WEEKEND CLASH

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team is set to welcome in-state foe Tennessee Tech this weekend at Skyhawk Field. Game 1 will be Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. with Game 2 following on Saturday, April 27 at 3 p.m. while Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. will serve as the series finale.

UT Martin (15-25, 7-8 Ohio Valley Conference) sits among the league's best offenses in terms of doubles (86, second), hits (390, fourth), home runs (49, fourth), RBI's (249, fourth) and slugging percentage (.456, fourth).

Mac Danford has slugged six homers (tied for second in the OVC) against league pitching while driving in 16 runs (seventh in the OVC). Overall, the trio of Will Smith (.329), Andrew Fernandez (.311) and Blaze Bell (.307) are batting over .300 and have combined for 90 RBI's. Cole Smith holds the team lead for on-base percentage at .436.

Senior southpaw Tristan Walton ranks in the OVC's top-10 in ERA (3.07, third), opposing batting average (.249, sixth), innings pitched (58.2, fourth) and strikeouts (60, fifth). Tucker Reed has put together a fantastic stat line in his senior season as the Athens, Ala. native boasts a 3-0 record, a 2.40 ERA and three saves in a team-high 17 relief appearances. Brock Arender has fanned 12 batters over 11.2 innings while accumulating a 3.86 ERA out of the bullpen.

Tennessee Tech (26-15, 10-5 OVC) is currently tied with Little Rock for the best record in conference play. The Golden Eagles have used superb pitching from Peyton Calitri, whose 1.85 ERA is good enough for eighth in the country. Jaxson Pease is the OVC's leader in ERA (0.92) in conference play while Landon Smiddy is ninth in ERA (3.37) against league bats.

Five of Tennessee Tech's starters have produced a .300-plus batting average with Hayden Gilliland leading the charge at .346. Gilliland has driven in 45 runs and is top-10 in OVC play in OPS (1.150). Troy Baunsgard has smacked a team-leading 16 doubles while also ranking first on the team in hits (54).
