
UT MARTIN SOFTBALL TO CONTINUE SPRING BREAK ROAD SWING AT STETSON INVITATIONAL

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will travel south to sunny Florida during Spring Break to compete in the Stetson Invitational held in DeLand, Fla. beginning on Friday, March 8 and running through Sunday, March 10.
UT Martin will open the five-game tournament field on Friday against Bethune-Cookman (7-14) at 10 a.m. before squaring off against Fairfield (3-3) at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Skyhawks will matchup against Big 10 foe Maryland (10-8) at 11:30 a.m. before playing host Stetson (5-11) at 5 p.m. The squad will wrap up their tournament appearance against Maryland on Sunday at 9 a.m.
The Skyhawks (9-8) are looking to snap loose from their recent funk, dropping five of their last six contests. UT Martin fell short to Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State on Tuesday by a final score of 8-1.
Freshman Kenna Garst leads the Skyhawks with a .444 batting average while Paige Clark (.391), Gabbi Campbell (.318), Aalia Bivens (.308) and Madelyn Dycus (.308) are each hitting over .300 on the season. Meanwhile, Alli Fulcher, Haylee Short and Gracyn McBride have combined to tally 10 doubles, two home runs and 35 RBIs while converting 14 of 15 stolen base chances.
Freshman Lexi Ray (3-4, 3.99 ERA) paces the Skyhawks with 33.1 innings of work while Hannah Ridolfi (4-2, 3.95 ERA) has tallied six starts on the season. Joining in the action is freshman Erin Gallagher with a 1-1 record and 1.91 ERA in 22.0 innings of work – primarily out of the bullpen.
This marks the Skyhawks third appearance in the Stetson Invitational – joining the field in 2016 and 2018. UT Martin is 9-8 against the tournament field of Bethune-Cookman (3-1), Fairfield (4-2), Maryland (2-2) and Stetson (0-3).
