PEORIA, Ill. – The second-seeded University of Tennessee at Martin softball team saw its 2026 season end after a 2-0 elimination bracket loss to Lindenwood Thursday afternoon at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, Illinois.
After retiring the first batter of the game, the Skyhawks gave up four straight hits to the Lions, ending in a two-RBI double from Kylee Crowder that scored the only runs of the game for either team. Following the runs, Ashtyn Green shut down the Lions by allowing no runs on four hits with two strikeouts over the final 6.2 innings of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh, Kennedy Brown and Carly Ward walked to lead off the inning and give UT Martin two baserunners with no outs. However, the Skyhawks could not push the runners across the plate, as their season came to an end. Avary Makarewicz led UT Martin with two hits in the game, while Kyla Harley and Karena Recrosio each had one.
The 2026 Skyhawks end their season at 33-21 overall and 20-6 in OVC play. UT Martin's second-place finish in the OVC standings was its best finish since 2017 and its 20 league wins were the most since 2012.
