
SOCCER SKYHAWKS SET FOR BIG WEEKEND AGAINST MURRAY STATE AND JACKSONVILLE STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer squad is set to host Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State in a pivotal matchup before hitting the road and heading to Jacksonville State.
First touch against Murray State is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at Skyhawk field. The Skyhawks will play against Jacksonville State on Sunday, Oct. 7 with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
UT Martin (8-2-1, 3-0-1 OVC) is coming off of a weekend in which the Skyhawks claimed a 3-0 victory over SIUE and forced a 0-0 draw with Eastern Illinois. Senior defender Kaci Mitchell was awarded a share of the league's Defensive Player of the Week honor as Murray State's Karsyn Hasch claimed a share of the title.
As a team, UT Martin leads the OVC in per match shots (20.00), points (6.18), goals (2.36) and goals allowed (0.82). The well-roundedness of the club cannot be highlighted enough as eight Skyhawks have recorded multiple goals on the season. Amy McGivern leads all UT Martin ball strikers in goals with four while Jaden Hildreth has also connected for four goals. The trio of Bella Roberts, Danae Kaldaridou and Skylor Keane have all tallied three goals apiece while Samantha Kelly, Alice Adams and Blare Gerido round out the multi-goal Skyhawks.
Sharing the ball has also been a strong suit among UT Martin players as 11 Skyhawks have recorded an assist with Katelyn Colvin's three leading the pack. Roberts, Kaldaridou, Keane and Kelly have tallied a pair apiece.
The UT Martin back line has also stood tall this season as it has limited opposing teams to a paltry seven shots per contest. Leading the defending corps is Kamryn Chappell as she paces all Skyhawks with 888 minutes played. Jacalyn Schubring and Mitchell have also risen to extraordinary heights in their skill set as all three of the aforementioned players have logged the bulk of the time on the back line.
Goalkeeper Erica Myers has been great between the posts this season as she has clocked in with 695 minutes while posting the league's best goals against average (0.65). Along the way, she has recorded 19 saves on her 57 shots faced.
Murray State is led by Miyah Watford's eight goals and five assists. Abby Jones has also been great for the Racers as she has netted five goals and tallied seven assists. Rebecca Kubin and Symone Cooper have also recorded multiple goals on the season.
Alex Steigerwald has been superb in goal for Murray State as she boasts a 1.06 GAA while recording 53 saves in over 1,014 minutes played under first-year head coach Matt Lodge.
Jacksonville State is led by Claire Petersen's three goals while the duo of Nadia Plawiuk and Chloe Doherty have netted a pair of goals each. Abigail Martinez and Cheyenne Carden pace the Gamecocks in assists as both a tallied two apiece.
Morgan Lerch has logged over 1,152 minutes at goalkeeper for Jacksonville State and has posted a respectable 1.33 GAA. In that span, she has also snagged 44 saves under sixth-year head coach Neil Macdonald.
