SIUE Advances Past Skyhawks In OVC Tournament on Penalty Kicks

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team failed to advance in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship Thursday at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium in Saint Charles, Missouri, as SIUE bested the Skyhawks, 5-4, on penalty kicks after a 0-0 tie.
The match was a tale of two halves. SIUE took control of the first, but UT Martin dominated the second. The Cougars put four shots on goal in the first, compared to just one by UT Martin, However, in the second half the Skyhawks put seven shots on frame, while SIUE only placed two.
After 90 minutes, the game advanced to overtime, where a single goal would win it for either team. However, after two 10-minute overtime periods, the game was still tied, forcing it to move on to penalty kicks. During the penalty kicks, each team made four and missed one, forcing the game into sudden death. On the sixth kick, the Skyhawks missed, and the Cougars scored, allowing SIUE to advance to Sunday's quarterfinals.
Alexandra Weihs led UT Martin in the match with three shots and three shots on goal. Mac Titus earned her seventh clean sheet of the season by playing all 110 minutes and making seven saves.
The Skyhawks end their 2025 campaign at 3-7-9.
