BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Junior Allie Carroll of the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second week of the season, the league announced Tuesday.
Carroll played all 180 minutes over two matches last week, as the Skyhawks drew at home against Middle Tennessee and on the road at Illinois State. She helped lead a back line that allowed just one goal and only seven shots on goal over the two-match stretch.
In four games with the Skyhawks, the Olive Branch, Mississippi native has already established herself as a formidable presence for UT Martin. She has played all 360 minutes of the season so far and her defensive unit has given up just two goals while allowing only 4.8 shots on goal per game.
Offensively, she nailed a penalty kick in the 90th minute at Chattanooga that secured a tie for the Skyhawks and tallied an assist at Chicago State.
Carroll and the Skyhawks return to action Thursday when they make the short drive to Murray State to take on the Racers at 1 p.m. at Cutchin Field.
