
Third Straight Shutout Earns Tanninen, Titus OVC Weekly Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Following the University of Tennessee at Martin's third consecutive shutout, a 1-0 win over Lindenwood, freshman Nasti Tanninen and fifth-year Mac Titus were named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
For Titus, it is her third consecutive goalkeeper honor, her fourth of the season, and her eighth of her career. For Tanninen, the award is the first of her young career and the third for a Skyhawk defender this season.
Tanninen anchored a back line that notched its third consecutive shutout in the win over Lindenwood. Tanninen and the Skyhawks defense allowed just eight total shots and two on goal, both below the Lions' season averages of 10.3 and 4.3, respectively.
Titus made two stops and turned in her third consecutive clean sheet, her fifth of the season, Sunday. She has yet to allow a goal in OVC play and has not allowed a goal overall in the past 356 minutes and 13 seconds of play. Titus leads the OVC in both goals against average (0.69) and save percentage (85.5), while her five shutouts is tied for the most in the OVC, along with two other goalkeepers.
Tanninen, Titus and the Skyhawks will look to remain unbeaten in OVC play Saturday at 6 p.m. at SIUE.
