Unbeaten Skyhawks Welcome Marshall Sunday

MARTIN, Tenn. – At 1-0-4, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team is unbeaten through the first five games of the season for the first time in program history. On Sunday, they put that record on the line when they host Marshall at Skyhawk Soccer Field at 7 p.m.
The Skyhawks are coming off a 2-2 draw Thursday at Murray State, where Daksha Sutharshan scored the first goal of her collegiate career and Peyton Cook scored her first this season.
Cook and Alex Weihs lead the way for UT Martin on the season with one goal and two assists, while Unni Wolf has two goals. Defensively, Allie Carroll was recently named OVC Defensive Player of the Week for leading a back line that allowed one goal over two matches. In goal, Mac Titus has one shutout, is saving shots at an 80.0-percent clip and is allowing under one goal per game at 0.8. As a team, the Skyhawks have scored eight goals this season, while allowing only four.
Marshall is currently 2-1-1 on the season after tying Belmont, the Skyhawks' next opponent, 3-3, Thursday in Nashville. Belmont had a 3-1 lead in the second half, but two converted penalty attempts from Wiktoria Mikrut, helped salvage the draw for the Thundering Herd.
Mikrut is currently 3-for-3 on penalty attempts this season. With 1.0 goals per game and 4.75 shots per game, Mikrut is currently 15th in the nation in both categories. In goal, Emma Durand is saving shots at 66.7-percent and allows 2.5 goals per game. As a team, Marshall has scored nine goals this season, while allowing 10.
Sunday's match will be the third all-time meeting between UT Martin and Marshall, with the Skyhawks leading the series 2-0. UT Martin took down the Thundering Herd, 4-1, at home in 2017, which was followed by a 3-1 Skyhawk victory in Huntington in 2018
