
Skyhawks Host Defending OVC Tournament Champion Little Rock For Senior Weekend

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team takes to Skyhawk Field one last time as it closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend with Little Rock. Game 1 is set for Friday, May 8 at 5 p.m. while Senior Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at 3 p.m. The final home game in 2026 will be Sunday, May 10 at 1 p.m.

Seven seniors will be recognized in a pregame ceremony prior to Saturday's game at approximately 2:35 celebrating the careers of Drake Bayles, TJ Grines, Aidan Karns, Brandon King, Maxwell Schumacher, Jacob Sitton and Zach Wager.

UT Martin (24-24, 9-12 Ohio Valley Conference) has rewritten the record book during this year's campaign setting program bests in home wins (17), runs scored (385), stolen bases (128), doubles (119) and RBIs (348) while ranking inside the top five in saves (fifth, nine).

The Skyhawk offense is one of the best in the country ranking in the top 15 in multiple categories including doubles (fourth), batting average (seventh, .321), hits (seventh) and stolen bases (12th). UT Martin is third in the OVC in walks allowed per nine innings (4.24) and boasts three complete games on the year.

The reigning OVC Player of the Week Grines has produced a season to remember in his senior campaign. The Alexandria, La native leads the nation in stolen bases with 57 (one shy of breaking the OVC single-season record) while also ranking third in runs scored (68, division one program record) and fifth in hits (78). TJ Dunsford (58 RBIs) and Colten Payton (52 RBIs) have combined for 110 RBIs with both in hot pursuit of the single season record for runs batted in (64 by UTM Hall of Famer Wes Patterson In 2010).

The two-time conference pitcher of the week Sitton has two complete games and 59 strikeouts (fifth in OVC) while Maxwell Schumacher has sat down 16 batters looking (third in OVC). Will Turner owns three wins out of the bullpen with 34 strikeouts in 20 appearances. Gabe Bryant and Mason Little have combined for seven saves and both rank inside the league's top 10 in that category.

Little Rock (28-21, 14-7 OVC) is one game back of first place in the conference standings and are top five in the league in hits allowed per nine innings (first, 8.29), earned run average (second, 4.94), strikeouts per nine innings (second, 8.2), doubles (third, 88) and hits (fourth, 471). Ty Rhodes owns a team-best 14 doubles while Nic Bronzini is the defending OVC Pitcher of the Week with eight shutout innings and eight strikeouts in the 4-0 win over Morehead State on Sunday.
