Skyhawks Set To Host North Alabama This Tuesday

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team concludes its four-game homestand with a midweek matchup against North Alabama on Tuesday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

The Skyhawks (18-17) won the first game of the season series against the Lions (17-18) last Tuesday, April 7 with a 6-5 triumph at Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium.

UT Martin ranks top-10 in the country in doubles (fourth, 89), hits (seventh, 395) and batting average (eighth, .324) while also sitting inside the top-20 in stolen bases (13th, 97) and triples (17th, 12). The pitching staff for the Skyhawks is third in the Ohio Valley Conference in saves (nine) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.87).

TJ Grines became UT Martin's all-time leader and single season leader in stolen bases during the NCAA Division I era (since 1993) in Sunday's contest against Tennessee Tech. The senior has now stolen 53 bases in his two-year career with the Skyhawks and 38 this season. Colten Payton has moved into the top-three in the league in batting average (third, .363) while TJ Dunsford has drilled 12 doubles (third in the OVC).

Righty reliever Gabe Bryant boasts a 21-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 appearances with 28.2 innings pitched. In his last six appearances out of the bullpen, southpaw Will Turner has surrendered just one earned run and struck out nine batters. Sophomore right hander JP Nunn threw a season-high 2.1 innings last time out against North Alabama which matched his previous season-best against Lindenwood on March 29.

The Lions are fresh off a sweep of former OVC school Austin Peay where they averaged 12.3 runs per game. Will Millard leads the team in batting average with a .327 clip to pair with a team-high .584 slugging percentage. Righty relief pitcher Justus Agosto owns a .220 opposing batting average and Gavin Oswald is fifth in the Atlantic Sun Conference in batters struck out looking with 11.
