
UT Martin Prepared For Third Straight Appearance In The OVC Baseball Championship Presented By SERVPRO

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team has punched its ticket to the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship for a third straight season and will start its quest for a tournament title on Wednesday, May 21 at 12:30 p.m. against Lindenwood.

This is the seventh time the Skyhawks (20-33, 11-14 OVC) have played in the tournament (1996, 2011, 2017, 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025) while they have added on to their record of consecutive NCAA Division I postseason appearances.

Overall, UT Martin ranks among the league leaders in stolen bases (first, 117) and batting average (third, .279). In conference play, the Skyhawks are batting .295 (fourth) while tallying 57 stolen bases. The 2025 team has set the NCAA Division I single season record for stolen bases while sitting just behind the 1986 team in the all-time rankings who stole 123 bases.

Jalen Fithian is three stolen bases away from the first 40 stolen base season in the school's Division I history. The senior is third in the OVC in doubles (16) and leads the team in runs scored (41). Arderrius Townsend has been on a tear with a team-best 29-game on-base streak and 15-game hitting streak. Townsend owns a team-best 14 home runs and ranks second in the OVC in OPS (1.116). Brody Capps is first in the OVC in RBIs during conference play (34) and JT Popick holds the second-best batting average on the team in league play (.338).

Jeb Bartle leads all pitchers in OVC play in ERA with a 1.73 and has three saves with 51 strikeouts. Jacob Sitton boasts a 4.82 ERA which is good enough for ninth on the overall conference leaderboard while Zach Wager (team-high five wins) has thrown 46.1 innings in conference play (ninth). Kaleb Baskin (26 punchouts, three saves) and Mason Shropshire (three wins, 26 strikeouts) are tied for the most appearances out of the bullpen with 23.
