Blue Raiders Shutout Skyhawks In Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team could not get its bats going against Middle Tennessee Wednesday and fell, 8-0, in five innings at Blue Raider Softball Field in Murfreesboro.
The Skyhawks could do little with Middle Tennessee pitcher Tori Coffman in the game, as they tallied just four hits and a walk and never advanced past second base. Kyrsten Brown had a double Wednesday, while Kennedy Brown, Kyla Harley, and Carly Ward all had singles.
Middle Tennessee began its scoring with a home run in the first from Jana Want to take an early 1-0 lead in the contest. The Blue Raiders went on to add four more runs in the second and three more in the fourth on their way to the 8-0 win.
The Skyhawks return to the friendly confines of Bettye Giles Field Friday and Saturday for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series with Eastern Illinois. First pitch for Friday's single game is scheduled for 2 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader will begin at Noon.
