
SKYHAWK BASEBALL HOSTS LINDENWOOD THIS WEEKEND WITH SENIOR DAY SET FOR SUNDAY

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team will take to Skyhawk Field for the final time this season when it hosts Lindenwood for a three-game series. Game 1 is set for Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m. with Game 2 coming on Saturday, May 11 at 3 p.m. Senior Day will be Sunday, May 12 at 1 p.m.

Sixteen seniors will be honored during a pregame ceremony on Sunday at approximately 12:30 p.m. celebrating the career contributions of Will Smith, Zac Rice, Choyce Diffey, Andrew Fernandez, Hunter McLean, Mac Danford, Alec Beaman, Tucker Reed, Baylor Jones, Campbell Cleveland, Jonah Wichman, Cameron Brady, Tristan Walton, Benny DeTrude, Carson Deer, Eric Steensma, Eli Martin and Campbell Cleveland.

The Skyhawks (19-29, 11-10 Ohio Valley Conference) lethal offense ranks among the league leaders in batting average (.290, second), hits (489, second), doubles (105, second), RBI's (315, third), total bases (806, third), slugging percentage (.479, third) and home runs (66, fourth).

UT Martin has several players moving on up in the record books with Mac Danford chasing the single season home run record (14 this season, record is 18) and Will Smith climbing up the all-time hits leader board (tied for fourth all-time with 209). Zac Rice is tied for seventh in the OVC in doubles (14) while Cole Smith is tied for the team lead in conference play in walks (18).

Tristan Walton (76 strikeouts, sixth most in a single season at UT Martin) is third in the OVC in ERA with a 3.31 mark. Tucker Reed's 3.03 ERA in conference play is fourth best in the league while Eric Steensma is fourth in innings pitched (41) against OVC foes.

Lindenwood (14-33, 7-14 OVC) is currently two games out of the cut-off line for the OVC Baseball Championship with six conference games remaining. The Lions are led by left-handed pitcher Eli Brown (56 strikeouts) who holds the 10th best ERA in the conference at 5.05.

Dawson Hokuf has compiled a 1.008 OPS by racking up 54 hits, 14 doubles and a team-best six home runs. Additionally, Bryson Arnette has gone yard five times to pair with 20 RBI's, eight doubles and 23 runs scored.

The Skyhawks are expected to throw senior lefty Walton (5-4) on Friday, redshirt senior right-hander Steensma (3-6, 5.19 ERA) for Game 2 and sophomore righty Jeb Bartle (2-3, 6.46 ERA) in the series finale. The Lions are expected to start junior lefty Brown (2-5) for Game 1, junior right-hander Zach Buschschulte (0-8, 6.02 ERA) on Saturday and sophomore righty Josh Newell (4-4, 5.93 ERA) during Game 3.
