
SKYHAWK BASEBALL TO PLAY HOST TO RIVAL MURRAY STATE FOR FIRST PART OF HOME-AND-HOME SERIES

MARTIN, Tenn.- Coming off its first sweep of Tennessee Tech since 2019, the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team is set to host Missouri Valley Conference foe Murray State for the first game of a home-and-home set on Tuesday, April 30 at 5 p.m.

Mac Danford has crushed a team-best 11 home runs this spring (tied for ninth-most in a season in school history) and Will Smith (all-time leader in walks) holds the team lead in multi-hit games with 14. Jalen Fithian is riding a seven-game hitting streak while Hunter McLean has reached base safely in six straight contests. Zac Rice leads the team in hits, racking up 53 base knocks.

Tucker Reed has added on to his exceptional year by decreasing his ERA to 2.14 while not allowing an earned run since April 6 (11 punchouts in that span). Redshirt freshman Brock Arender sports a 3.29 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched. Baylor Jones has fanned five batters over his last three appearances out of the bullpen.

Murray State (26-17) ranks second in the MVC in round trippers (76) while holding a 5.81 ERA (fourth in MVC). Drew Vogel (13 stolen bases), Carson Garner (.463 on-base percentage) and Taylor Howell (49 RBI's) are tied for fourth in the MVC for most home runs with 14 apiece.

Dan Tauken has batted a crisp .338 to pair with 10 doubles and 51 hits while Nathan Holler (team-high 18 appearances) will bring a 2.49 ERA into Tuesday's matchup.
