The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team returns home for a three-game weekend series against Ohio Valley Conference rival SIUE, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23 before capping off the series on Sunday, March 24. First pitch of each day is slated for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (14-12, 2-4 OVC) are looking to get back on track after dropping a three-game series to defending OVC Softball Championship winner Eastern Illinois last weekend. Despite the setback, UT Martin still ranks amongst OVC leaders in batting average (.297, second), hits (213, third), runs scored (128, third), home runs (10, third) and RBIs (118) on the offensive side. Meanwhile in the pitching circle, the squad ranks second in ERA (3.06) and opponent batting average (.250).
Senior outfielder Kaci Fuller paces the team with a .400 batting average while tallying four doubles, three triples, two home runs and 19 RBIs on the season. Meanwhile the infield tandem of Katie Dreiling (.363 average) and Alli Robinson (.343 average) also rank amongst league leaders while combining for 12 doubles, three home runs and 33 RBIs between the pair.
Dreiling also paced the Skyhawk pitching staff with 49.2 innings of work while boasting a 5-3 record and 2.96 ERA. Brooklynn Linneman (4-3) sits atop the team's leaderboard and third in the OVC in both ERA (1.64) and opponent batting average (.216).
SIUE (9-18, 1-5 OVC) enters the game dropping eight straight contests – including five consecutive league contests. Despite the losing record, the Cougars boast one of the league's best batters in Paige Rocha who boasts a .414 batting average with a league-high 41 hits. Rocha enters the game riding the longest active hitting streak in Division I after tallying base knocks in 20 straight games. In the pitching circle, Kelsey Ray paces the team with a 6-4 record and 3.70 ERA in 65.2 innings of work.
The two programs have met 41 times previously entering the weekend series with UT Martin holding a slim 21-20 advantage. The Skyhawks picked up six consecutive wins against the Cougars since 2022 before SIUE snapped their losing streak with a 4-2 victory in the OVC Softball Championship last season to eliminate UT Martin.
