
UT MARTIN SOCCER RETURNS HOME FOR MIDWEEK SHOWDOWN AGAINST AUSTIN PEAY ON WEDNESDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will return home for a midweek matchup against former Ohio Valley Conference foe and current ASUN member Austin Peay on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Action is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (0-2-1) enter the contest looking for their first win of the season after posting their best defensive effort of the season the last time out. In its most recent contest at Western Carolina on Saturday, UT Martin's defense posted a shutout in a scoreless tie. Freshman goalkeeper Poppy Bastock played a big role in the clean sheet as she tallied a season-high 11 saves in the contest – including a stretch which featured three saves in 20 seconds.
UT Martin has scored two goals this season with seniors Catey Hunt and Megan Drake each finding the back of the net through the first three matches. Freshman Alba Delgado has also joined the scoring column with an assist.
Bastock has played every minute between the posts for the Skyhawks this season. The freshman has tallied 23 saves (79.3 percent) while boasting a 2.00 goals against average.
Austin Peay (0-1-3) is also in search of the team's first victory after notching three ties to start the campaign before suffering a 3-0 loss to Chattanooga on Sunday. The Govs' lone goal this season came courtesy of Anna McPhie while Haley Patterson tallied an assist.
Senior goalkeeper Chloe Dion has been impressive through the first four games for the Govs. Dion tallied shutouts against Miami and Idaho State while recording 15 saves (78.9 percent) and a 1.00 GAA.
Wednesday's contest marks the 22nd meeting between the two programs dating back to 2002. UT Martin has posted a 14-5-2 mark against Austin Peay all-time while winning four consecutive matches by a combined score of 10-0.
