MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad closes out the 2019-20 campaign with a matchup against Southeast Missouri on Senior Day at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. Tipoff on Saturday, Feb. 29 is set for approximately 4 p.m. (following the women's game as part of a doubleheader).
Before the game, the Skyhawks will honor their two seniors in Quintin Dove and Derek Hawthorne, Jr. Both have played at an All-Ohio Valley Conference level this season, as the pair has combined for 1,643 points, 698 rebounds, 149 assists, 110 steals and 37 blocks over four total seasons in a UT Martin uniform.
Dove is bidding to become only the second Skyhawk representative to lead the OVC in scoring in league play (joining two-time All-American Lester Hudson in 2007-08 and 2008-09). The Cleveland, Ohio native currently ranks first with 22.0 points per outing against conference opposition and is coming off a 26-point, 20-rebound performance against SIUE on Thursday.
UT Martin has excelled at the charity stripe this season, topping the OVC with a 75.6 free throw percentage and upping that number to 77.8 percent in league play. The program's single-season record for free throw percentage is 75.4, set last year.
The Skyhawks are looking for a season split against the Redhawks after a wild first meeting in Cape Girardeau a little over two weeks ago. UT Martin led for 39:25 of clock time and held a six-point advantage with 42 seconds remaining before a furious Southeast Missouri rally led to a 74-72 setback for the Skyhawks.
The Redhawks enter the season finale on a three-game skid with all three losses coming by single digits. That includes a slim 72-70 home decision against Eastern Illinois on Thursday where the frontcourt duo of Quatarrius Wilson (team-high 19 points, eight rebounds) and Sage Tolbert (16 points, game-high 14 rebounds) shined for Southeast Missouri.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ while Chris Brinkley (play-by-play) and Tom Britt (color) will provide radio analysis locally on WCMT 1410 AM/100.5 FM. Those links, as well as a link to follow along through live stats, can be found at the top of the webpage.
