EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Silver Waves Media unveiled its eighth annual Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistant Coaches list today as the University of Tennessee at Martin's Drew Kelly and Séllé Hann earned a spot on the prestigious directory.
A total of 138 names made the cut this year as the Skyhawks were one of just 26 schools (joining Chattanooga, Evansville, Gonzaga, Iona, Loyola-Chicago, Loyola Marymount, Massachusetts, Murray State, Nevada, New Mexico, Niagara, Northeastern, Pacific, Pepperdine, Saint Louis, Saint Mary's, San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UAB, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV and Washington State) to boast multiple selections.
UT Martin was the only Ohio Valley Conference institution to produce a selection on the 2026 list. Kelly and Hann are the first two Skyhawks to crack this list as over 40 coaches from these lists have gone on to become head coaches over the last four years.
Both Kelly and Hann helped UT Martin to one of its best seasons in school history a year ago on head coach Jeremy Shulman's staff. The Skyhawks tied a program record with 22 victories and ranked in the top-10 in NCAA Division I men's hoops in scoring defense (third), three-point percentage defense (fourth), field goal percentage defense (sixth) and offensive rebounds per game (eighth). UT Martin's 143 blocked shots were the most in school history while its 1,317 rebounds were just two shy of the program's all-time record.
A Liberty Corner, NJ native, Kelly was promoted to Skyhawk associate head coach in May following his successful debut season on staff. He owns 29 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 19 seasons as a head coach (Harcum College from 2005-22, Bucks County Community College (2002-04). The Villanova alum also spent time as an assistant at Northern Illinois (2022-25), The College of New Jersey (2000-02) and Haverford College (1997-2000).
Hann enters his third season on UT Martin's coaching staff in 2026-27. Hailing from Dakar, Senegal, Hann is in his 10th season at the collegiate level as his career has included stops at his alma mater Vanguard (2022-24, 2018-20, 2015-16), Eastern Florida State College (2020-21) and Life University (2021-22).
