UT MARTIN SOCCER OPENS TWO-MATCH PRESEASON SLATE ON SUNDAY AT NORTH ALABAMA

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team begins the 2019 schedule with a pair of exhibitions, starting with a Sunday, Aug. 11 showdown at North Alabama at 2 p.m. A week later, the Skyhawks host in-state foe Christian Brothers for a 1 p.m. exhibition on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Coming off a school-record 15 victories last fall, UT Martin officially opened its fall camp on Aug. 6. Head coach Phil McNamara is in his 10th season at the helm of Skyhawk soccer, overseeing a 2019 squad that returns 14 players and five starters from last season's Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions.
UT Martin, who was picked to finish second in the 2019 OVC preseason poll, return All-OVC goalkeeper Erica Myers. The junior from Holland, Ohio was spotlighted as an OVC "Player to Watch" boasted an 0.82 Goals Against Average on her way to six shutouts last season, conceding only 12 goals in over 1,300 minutes in net.
The Skyhawks' returning offensive starters include senior forward Nicole Collins (five goals, four assists in her career) and junior midfielder Alice Adams (seven goals, five assists in her career). UT Martin also boasts returning junior starters Kamryn Chappell (36 career starts) and Jacalyn Schubring (17 starts in 2018) at the defender position.
In addition, eight Skyhawk newcomers will look to make an impact in the preseason before UT Martin's season opener against Arkansas State on Thursday, Aug. 22.
