MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team remained unbeaten on the season but did not find the winning result on Sunday afternoon, finishing in a scoreless tie against Little Rock.
The Skyhawks (1-0-1) controlled the tempo for much of the contest, holding 59 percent of the possession throughout the game. UT Martin would outshoot Little Rock in the contest by a final tally of 15-13 while placing five shots on goal. Freshman Isabel Almarsdottir paced the squad with four shots while Alice Adams tallied three of her own – including two on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Erica Myers was solid once again, recording her ninth career shutout after a stellar performance on Thursday evening. Myers recorded seven saves in goal to move her season total up to 20 through just two games.
As a whole, the trio of Myers, Almarsdottir and Kamryn Chappell, played all 110 minutes of the contest while Lotte Koot and Miah Olaleye each eclipsed the century mark.
"On one hand we are proud because at this stage in the season we are four games in – counting the exhibitions - and are still undefeated," McNamara continued. "Obviously we are a little disappointed after coming off a very good win on Thursday but we were missing three key players today and that clearly affected our depth. I thought we had enough quality and possession to win the game but unfortunately we didn't find the quality in the final third and for that reason we were unable to secure the win. I thought Little Rock set out with a good game plan to sit deeper and make things more difficult which allowed for a higher possession rate. What we have to learn is to put our possession to better use to prevail with a result. What I did like to see is that Maria Castaldo and Catey Hunt showed a lot of guts and determination for freshmen. Hopefully the back four and the goalkeeper can take confidence in a clean sheet moving forward."
