
UT MARTIN TO CLOSE OUT NON-CONFERENCE PORTION OF SCHEDULE WITH HOME DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST MEMPHIS ON TUESDAY

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will close out the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule with a home doubleheader against regional rival Memphis on Tuesday, April 23. First pitch from Bettye Giles Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Skyhawks (26-21) will look to close out a strong non-conference season schedule with a matchup against Memphis. UT Martin has recorded an 18-13 record against non-conference foes this season.
UT Martin recently got back to its winning ways with an 8-6 victory at SIUE on Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks were led offensively by senior shortstop Alli Fulcher who posted a .400 batting average with one home run and five RBIs in the doubleheader – including a game-winning three-run home run in the top of the seventh.
Sophomore Paige Clark leads the way offensively for the Skyhawks with a .412 batting average, 22 RBIs and 27 stolen bases on the season. Meanwhile in the pitching circle, Lexi Ray (7-6, 3.24 ERA) recently picked up her seventh win of the season in relief against SIUE.
Memphis (21-25) enters the matchup looking to snap a six-game losing streak after falling to Mississippi State, Wichita State and Houston over the past week and a half. The Tigers will turn to Baylee Smith who paces the team in most offensive categories with a .371 batting average, 34 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 30 RBIs on the season. In the pitching circle, Mariah Nichols (7-13, 4.12 ERA) paces the squad with 120.2 innings pitched while Karli Perque (6-9, 3.76 ERA) and Bayleigh Wisher (6-2, 4.28 ERA) rank as the team's other starters.
The Tigers hold a 13-5 advantage over the Skyhawks in the series dating back to 2006. UT Martin has posted a 4-5 mark against Memphis at home during the span.
