
SKYHAWK SOFTBALL TO TRAVEL TO MISSISSIPPI STATE FOR MID-WEEK SHOWDOWN

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will put its 9-7 record to the test with a matchup against Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State on Tuesday, March 5. First pitch from Nusz Park is scheduled for 4 p.m. and be seen on SEC Network +.
The Skyhawks (9-7) enter the matchup looking to pull off an upset on the road to open a lengthy Spring Break road trip. UT Martin is led offensively by the play of freshman catcher Kenna Garst with a .458 batting average while sophomore left fielder Paige Clark has tallied a .395 batting average with a pair of triples and six RBIs. As a whole, the senior pair of Alli Fulcher and Gracyn McBride are tied on the power scale with one home run and 12 RBIs each.
UT Martin is paced in the circle by junior righty Hannah Ridolfi with a 4-2 record and a 3.80 ERA. Freshman Lexi Ray leads the team with 31.1 innings pitched while posting a 3-3 record and 3.35 ERA in six starts.
Mississippi State (14-5) enters the matchup receiving votes in both major polls behind a high-powered offense. The Bulldogs have already his 25 home runs this season behind the play of Mia Davidson with 12 home runs and 30 RBIs while Fa Leilua isn't far behind in either category with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs.
The Bulldogs have turned to Alyssa Loza (5-1, 1.74 ERA) to carry a bulk of the load while Emily Williams has posted a 4-2 mark along with a 2.59 ERA in 46 innings of work.
Thursday's matchup will mark the fifth meeting between the two squads in series history with Mississippi State winning the previous four matchups.
