MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball squad is set to host Alabama A&M on Tuesday, March 19. First pitch from Skyhawk Field is slated for 6 p.m.
This marks the second time in a week that the Skyhawks have faced Alabama A&M as they claimed a 12-3 victory over the Bulldogs on March 12. UT Martin is a perfect 5-0 against Alabama A&M all-time, dating back to the first contest held between the two programs held on March 15, 2016 when the Skyhawks pulled out a 9-2 win in the inaugural matchup.
UT Martin (7-12) is led by the hot bat of Casey Harford as he boasts a .406 batting average to go along with a team-high 26 hits, four doubles and 11 runs batted in while also posting a .926 slugging percentage on the season. Jordan Stoner has also been a key piece to the Skyhawk offense as he currently swings to the tune of a .320 batting clip while being tied with Harford in doubles and RBIs. He has also swiped a squad-best three bases so far on the year. Also having stolen a trio of bases on the season are Sean Dixson and Creighton Eldridge, rounding out a mobile outfield for the Skyhawks.
Right-hander Seth Petry (0-0, 13.50 ERA) will toe the rubber in the midweek battle against the Bulldogs. He has tallied two innings of baseball as he has allowed three earned runs along the way. The UT Martin bullpen is led by closer Nick Wohlbold (0-1, 1.54 ERA) as he has logged 11.2 innings, recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs in that span. Marcus Eusebio (0-0, 2.89 ERA) has also provided the Skyhawks with valuable innings of relief work while Jonah Brody (0-0, 0.00 ERA) has recently burst onto the scene with a pair of innings of no-earned-run baseball.
Alabama A&M (5-17) is led by the duo of Jonathan Smith II (.342 batting average, four doubles and one triple to go along with eight RBIs) and Justin Lott (.302 batting average, two homers and 11 RBIs). Pierre Brewton has notched one long ball, nine runs batted in and swiped 10 bases on 10 attempts.
Logan Smith (0-2, 12.91 ERA) looks to get the starting nod in the weeknight start. He has logged 15.1 innings on the mound with two starts and six total appearances under his belt. Isom Ford (0-0, 0.00 ERA) and Yavier Febus (0-1, 3.60 ERA) have been fairly reliable options out of the Bulldog bullpen for first-year head coach Manny Lora.
