UT MARTIN SOFTBALL TO TRAVEL TO BLUES CITY CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will return to action with a four-game tournament appearance at the Blues City Classic hosted by the University of Memphis this weekend, beginning on Friday, March 1 through Saturday, March 2. All games will be played at the Tigers Softball Complex.
UT Martin will open its tournament appearance with a matchup against Sam Houston State on Friday at 11 a.m. before squaring off against Loyola (Chicago) at 1:15 p.m. The Skyhawks will then return to action on Saturday with a matchup at Mississippi Valley State at 9 a.m. before playing host Memphis at 11:15 a.m.
The Skyhawks (8-4) enter the tournament field coming off of making their home debut against Saint Louis on Monday, splitting the doubleheader. Offensively the Skyhawks boast six different hitters batting over the .300 mark. The trio of Kenna Garst (.450), Paige Clark (.412) and Madelyn Dycus (.400) are each hitting over .400 on the season. Meanwhile, Alli Fulcher and Gracyn McBride pace the Skyhawks with a home run and 10 RBIs each.
On the pitching side, the Skyhawks are riding the strong arms of junior Hannah Ridolfi (3-1, 2.86 ERA) and freshman Lexi Ray (3-1, 2.55 ERA). The pair has each tallied a shutout on the season while tossing 22 innings a piece. UT Martin will also deploy the arms of sophomore Caitlin Karo (1-1, 4.02 ERA) and freshman Erin Gallagher (1-1, 1.71 ERA) over the weekend.
Sam Houston State (5-11) is led offensively by Kyndal Kutac with a .316 batting average, three home runs and seven RBIs. On the pitching side, Regan Dunn (2-3, 2.76 ERA) and Lindsey McLeon (2-6, 4.24 ERA) lead the staff.
Loyola (12-2) is led offensively by Allyson Ivey with a .500 batting average, one home run and 13 RBIs. On the pitching side, Kiley Jones (6-1, 0.52 ERA) and Keenan Dolezal (6-1, 0.64 ERA) lead a dominating staff.
Mississippi Valley State (1-9) is led offensively by Deshonte Smith with a .345 batting average, three doubles, one home runs and seven RBIs. On the pitching side, Alyssa Montes (1-4, 4.83 ERA) leads the staff.
Memphis (5-8) is led offensively by Baylee Smith with a .441 batting average, five doubles, three triples, one home run and 12 RBIs. On the pitching side, Mariah Nichols (1-4, 3.15 ERA) and Karli Perque (2-3, 3.56 ERA) highlight the staff.
