Daniel Famer returns to the collegiate coaching ranks at his alma mater for a second stint as an assistant coach leading into the 2025 season.
AÂ UT Martin graduate from Camden, Farmer previously served on UT Martin Hall of Famer Donley Canary's staff from 2011-13 as a graduate assistant and later a volunteer assistant. During his previous stint with the program, UT Martin won an outright Ohio Valley Conference championships in 2012 and earned a berth to the program's second NCAA Tournament.
Working previously with outfielders and hitters, Farmer worked with OVC Player of the Year Leah Taylor, who led the Skyhawks with a .385 batting average, 61 runs scored, 10 triples, and 37 stolen bases. Taylor was also named to the Capital One Academic All-America fi rst team and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2012 NFCA Division 1 All-Region team, as well as racking up OVC Regular Season First team honors. After the season ended, Taylor was named to the 2012 Easton All-American Team. She also earned College Sports Madness’ OVC Player of the week twice, and the adidas OVC Player of the Week two times.
Also in 2012, Farmer worked with All-OVC second team honoree Kayla Wade who played in all of the Skyhawks games and sported a .335 batting average. Wade was also tabbed to the OVC All-Tournament team where she posted a .400 batting average during the tournament. Wade was joined on the all-tournament team by fellow outfielder Becca Williams who hit .364 and blasted a double and recorded three RBIs.
While an undergraduate student at UT Martin, Farmer was highly involved in the Campus Recreation Department where he worked for five years. During his tenure at Campus Recreation, he was responsible for supervising intramural activities, supervising the Elam Center, Skyhawk Fieldhouse and the Student Recreation Center facilities. Farmer also worked as a swim instructor, lifeguard and fitness center attendant.
He earned a bachelor's degree in education with an integrated studies concentration and obtained a master's degree in education.
Farmer is married to head coach Chelsea Farmer and the couple has two children, daughter Oaklee and son Foster.
