Aly Walker enters her second season as a graduate assistant softball coach at UT Martin, working primarily with the batters and outfielders.
In her first season with the Skyhawks, the team posted several statistical highlights including a school record 8.65 hits per game while ranking in the top-five in single-season history in six other categories of slugging percentage (.462, second), batting average (.309, third), runs per game (5.13, third), team hits (398, fifth) and fielding percentage (.965, fifth).Â
Before UT Martin, Walker was a four-year starter at Chattanooga where she started 174 games. For her career she posted a .350 batting average with 35 doubles, 12 home runs and 79 RBIs. Notching a career on-base percentage of .431 along with a .492 slugging percentage, she proved patient at the plate by drawing 70 walks – despite seeing her senior campaign cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two-time Southern Conference Preseason Player of the Year finished second in the SoCon in batting average and ranked amongst league leaders in hits (58), doubles (12), runs scored (36) and on-base percentage (.457 percent) as a junior. She also was honored as a Senior CLASS National Award finalist before posting a .348 average with five extra base hits and 11 RBIs before the season prematurely concluded.
In additional to her statistical numbers, she boasts a large allotment of individual honors throughout her career. Her accolades include being named a two-time SoCon Preseason Player of the Year, an All-SoCon first and second team performer, SoCon Player of the Month and SoCon Player of the Week in addition to both the SoCon All-Tournament team and SoCon All-Freshman team.
Walker prepped at South Gibson High School where she was a four-year letterwinner while boasting a quartet of all-district and all-tournament team honors respectively. A three-time all-state performer, she was also named the Jackson Sun’s Hitter of the Year (2014) and Player of the Year (2015).
Walker graduated from Chattanooga in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
