2019: Appeared in four games before suffering a season-ending injury…Held opposing batters to a paltry .182 batting average in his 7.2 innings pitched while he fanned five in that span…Tossed a season-high 3.1 innings at Ole Miss on Feb. 26…Rung up two batters against North Alabama on Feb. 24 and at Kennesaw State on March 2…Allowed only one extra base hit in his time on the bump.
2018: Won a team-best three games for the Skyhawks as he made nine starts on the mound and 12 total appearances…Recorded the team’s best K/9 as he fanned 39 batters across his 36.1 innings pitched…Whiffed 10 SIUE Cougars on April 20 in his five innings of one-run baseball.
2017: Started six games on the mound before suffering a season ending injury…Struck out 24 opponents over 23 innings of work…His strongest appearance came against Presbyterian as he went eight innings and eight strikeouts, allowing only two runs.
2016: Stepped in and immediately became one of the leaders of the pitching staff as a redshirt freshman, ranking 10th in the OVC in innings pitched (81.0)…Made a team-high 14 starts while making 15 overall appearances, going 2-10 with one save and a 6.67 ERA…Also led the team with 71 strikeouts, the fifth-highest single-season tally in program history…Went at least six innings in eight of his starts, including a career-high 8.2 innings against IPFW on March 5…Boasted eight games with three or fewer earned runs allowed…Fanned at least five batters in seven appearances, including a career-best nine punchouts in 7.2 innings against SIUE on April 30…Led the team in opponent batting average against left-handed hitters (.250, 28-for-112).
BEFORE UTM: Spent a year under head coach Jeremy Brotherton at Georgia Perimeter College but did not play, redshirting while rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered in the fall of 2014…Was teammates with current Skyhawk Shane Seckinger at GPC…Prep career was spent playing for head coach Jason Borcherding at Heritage High School, where the Patriots won 18 games and made an appearance in the Class AAAAA state playoffs in 2014…Earned second team all-region honors as both a pitcher and an infielder and was named an all-area first team honoree after posting a .407 on-base percentage and a team-high 25 RBI’s…Had multiple dominant efforts on the mound, including a complete game, 10-strikeout, one earned run performance against Winder-Barrow during his senior year…Also fanned nine batters and allowed only one run over four innings against Rockdale County in his senior campaign.
PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 20, 1995…Son of Tony and Lori Bazzani…Has a brother, Anthony, who played for fellow Ohio Valley Conference school Eastern Kentucky from 2010-13 and is currently pitching in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization…Majoring in health and human performance.
