CASPER, Wyo. – The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association unveiled its official draws for the 78th Annual College National Finals Rodeo today as University of Tennessee at Martin graduate Clint Southworth learned his upcoming schedule.
Southworth is one of 44 cowboys who will compete in the tie down roping national championship at the Ford Wyoming Center. His pursuit of a title will start on Monday, June 15 in the slack portion, which will begin at 8 a.m. CT. His second ride will follow on Tuesday, June 16 as part of the 8 a.m. CT slack performances while his third opportunity will take place during the 8 p.m. CT performance round on Wednesday, June 17.
The top 12 contestants from each of the nine events (saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying) will advance to the championship round, which will occur at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday, June 20.
Southworth clinched his spot at the CNFR after winning the Ozark Region championship in tie down roping with 760 points – ranking eighth nationally and 230 more points than the next-best regional cowboy in that event. It marked the second career regional title for the Bagdad, Ky. native and second ensuing trip to the CNFR as he also represented the Skyhawks at the 2024 national championship.
The 2026 CNFR includes 492 participants from 11 regions across the country who qualified for the event after their teams placed in the top-two of their regional standings or they individually finished in the top-three in their region in one of the aforementioned nine events. A national championship for both men's and women's teams as well as individual national champions will be crowned at the conclusion of the weeklong event.
