
Harris Named TSWA Pitcher of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Payton Harris of the University of Tennessee at Martin softball team has been named as the Pitcher of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, the organization announced Tuesday.
Harris went 2-0 last week with a 0.00 ERA and accomplished the rare feat of winning twice on the same day. In game one, she tossed the final two-thirds of the seventh inning, in which she allowed no runs on one hit. In game two, she went the distance and recorded her second solo shutout of the season. Over seven innings, Harris gave up no runs on just three hits to go along with a career-best six strikeouts. She finished the week with a 0.78 WHIP, while limiting opponents to a .120 batting average.
On the season, she has a 3.03 ERA and 29 strikeouts. In league play, Harris was especially impressive in 2026, going 5-1 with a save, two shutouts and the lowest ERA in conference play in the OVC at just 1.04.
On Thursday, Harris and the Skyhawks open play in the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championships in Peoria, Illinois as the No. 2 seed at 10 a.m. against either the No. 3 seed SIUE, the No. 6 seed Southern Indiana or the No. 7 seed Tennessee Tech.
