UT Martin Hosts In-State Rival Tennessee Tech This Weekend

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team returns to Skyhawk Field for a three-game series against in-state Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee Tech. The set begins Friday, April 10 at 5 p.m. with Game 2 taking place on Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m.

The Skyhawk offense continues to climb the ranks of the nation's elite; UT Martin (16-16, 3-6 OVC) ranks sixth in doubles (80), 12th in stolen bases (89), 18th in batting average (.317) and 20th in hits (349). The Skyhawk pitching staff has produced a 3.20 ERA in their last five games at home.

TJ Grines enters the weekend as the nation's stolen base leader with 35 while scoring 45 runs (eighth best in the nation). Garner Anderson is fourth in the conference in OPS (1.128) and Colten Payton's 40 RBIs are good enough for second in the OVC. Andrew Davis has reached base safely in every game this season and his 34 runs scored are eighth-most in the league.

Senior right-hander Jacob Sitton boasts a 3.35 ERA (sixth in the OVC) with 41 strikeouts (third in the OVC) while senior righty Maxwell Schumacher is third in the conference in batters struck out looking (10). Gabe Bryant leads the bullpen in appearances (16) and Mason Little paces UT Martin in saves with four.

Tennessee Tech (11-22, 1-8 OVC) brings power to the plate with 34 home runs (third in the OVC) and solid defense in the field (22nd in the country in fielding percentage, .980). The Golden Eagle offense is led by Jorsixt Jimenez who ranks first in the conference in slugging percentage (.757), OPS (1.171) and RBIs (41). Righty Jaxon Pease paces the team in wins with four while Garrett Holpuch is first on the staff in strikeouts (27).
