Wilson Leads The Way As UT Martin Ranks Third After OVC Championships First Round

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Day 1 of the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Golf Championships is in the books as the University of Tennessee at Martin ranks third at the Ackerman-Allen Course.
The Skyhawks shot a 287 (+3) today, trailing only Little Rock (279, -5) and Southern Indiana (284, E) in the 11-team standings. UT Martin ranks second in the tournament in birdies (16), third in par-3 scoring (3.10, +2), third in par-5 scoring (4.93, -1), third in fewest double bogeys or worse (2) and fourth in par-4 scoring (4.20, +11).
Sophomore John-Gregory Wilson paced the Skyhawks today as the lefty carded an even-par 71. The Bolivar, Tenn. native produced three birdies and additionally led the squad in par-4 scoring (4.00, sixth-best in the tournament), par-5 scoring (4.67, eighth in the field) and pars (12).
Consistency was the key for UT Martin in Round 1 was Luke Caldwell, Grant Phillips and Drew Williams each generated a 72 (+1) to complete the team scoring. Caldwell ranks fourth in the event with four birdies while Phillips and Williams each cashed in three birdies apiece. Phillips ranks sixth in the field with a 4.00 par-4 scoring average while Williams boasts a tournament-best 2.75 par-3 scoring average and is eighth in the field with a 4.67 par-5 scoring tally.
Bryce Harmon is the fifth member of the Skyhawks' scoring lineup as the freshman generated three birdies on the way to an 80 (+9) in his OVC Championship debut today.
With the threat of potential thunderstorms in the area tomorrow afternoon, the Round 2 pairings will now be a split tee format. UT Martin will start on Hole No. 1 with Harmon (7:49 a.m. CT) starting things off. He will be followed by Williams (7:58 a.m. CT), Phillips (8:07 a.m. CT), Caldwell (8:16 a.m. CT) and Wilson (8:25 a.m. CT) as the Skyhawks will play alongside Little Rock and Southern Indiana.
