Ohio Valley Conference Announces Phillips As Its Golfer Of The Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Grant Phillips, a senior at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was named Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time in his career this morning.
This accolade comes two days after Phillips won his third collegiate tournament, claiming medalist honors at the Grover Page Classic held at Jackson Country Club. The Marietta, Ga. native finished in a four-way tie for first place in the 68-man field with a 212 (-4) after rounds of 69-73-70.
Entering the final round three shots off the individual lead, Phillips birdied three of his final four holes on his journey atop the leaderboard. In addition to helping guide the Skyhawks to the team championship, he led the tournament field in fewest bogeys (three) while also ranking in the top-15 in par-3 scoring (3.08, second), par-4 scoring (3.97, seventh), pars (36, seventh), birdies (11, 11th) and par-5 scoring (4.67, 13th).
Phillips is the second UT Martin representative to be named OVC Golfer of the Week in as many weeks, joining teammate Drew Williams (Sept. 10). Phillips, who also won this award on March 26, 2026, becomes only the 13th player in school history to secure OVC Golfer of the Week status multiple times in a career.
Phillips currently ranks ninth in the OVC in stroke average (71.8) through a pair of tournament appearances in 2026-27. For his career, he boasts a 73.4 scoring average over 87 stroke-play rounds.
The Skyhawks return to the links on Sept. 28-29 when they travel to the SIUE Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill.
