BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time in the 2026-27 season and third time during his career, University of Tennessee at Martin junior Drew Williams has been selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week.
Williams becomes just the seventh Skyhawk to win at least three career OVC Golfer of the Week awards, trailing only Hunter Richardson (15) and Brendon Caballero (five) for the most in program history. The Greensboro, Ga. native also won this honor on Sept. 10, 2026 and Nov. 7, 2025.
Today's announcement comes after Williams helped UT Martin to its second victory and fifth top-five finish in as many tournaments this fall as the Skyhawks sat atop the standings at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo. UT Martin shot an 821 (-31) to tie Kansas City before winning a two-hole playoff. The 31-under par was the best tournament score in the school's NCAA Division I Era (since 1992) and completed a wire-to-wire triumph for the Skyhawks.
Williams nabbed runner-up accolades for his second top-five finish of the season, posting an aggregate score of 201 (-12). That included a career-best 65 in Monday's second round while he also accounted for red scores of 67 in Round 1 and a 69 in Round 3. He led the 53-man field with 17 birdies and ranked second in the tournament in both par-3 scoring average (2.93, -1) and par-5 scoring (4.33, -8).
Williams currently leads the OVC with a 70.5 stroke average through 15 rounds this fall, playing 10 of those at par or better. He has delivered 14 countable scores in 15 opportunities as a part of the UT Martin lineup so far this season.
The Skyhawks lead the OVC in stroke average (283.9) by nearly six shots per round after the completion of their fall season. UT Martin begins its spring competition on Feb. 28 through March 2 in Goodyear, Ariz. at the Loyola Intercollegiate.
