
Both UT Martin Squads Place Fourth In Spring-Opening Rodeo At Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. – The first of six spring Ozark Region rodeos took place over the weekend at Murray State as the University of Tennessee at Martin saw both teams finish fourth in the standings.
The Skyhawk cowboys accumulated 300 points while UT Martin's cowgirls earned 80 points. It marked the third top-four finish for the Skyhawk men's squad and second top-four placement for the UT Martin women's team so far during the 2025-26 campaign.
Daniel Wilder put together a strong showing in calf roping as the freshman out of Millington, Tenn. topped the opening round (10.3) before placing second in average (23.0) and third in the short go (12.7). Clint Southworth also earned points in all three phases, finishing second in the first go (10.4) before placing sixth in both average (31.4) and in the second round (21.0). Noah Beshears' time of 11.2 seconds in the first round also produced a fifth-place effort.
In breakaway roping, Leah Pitts split fourth in the opening go with a time of 2.6 seconds before later splitting sixth in average with the same result.
Jacob McFarland posted 58 points in the short go of saddle bronc riding, finishing fourth in the process during that round.
Daniel Wilder continued his impressive weekend with scores in all three phases of steer wrestling. He finished third in the opening round with a time of 4.8 seconds while also placing sixth in both average (11.8) and in the short go (7.0).
The Skyhawk duo of Bentley Anthony and Jace Stigall came away with points in the opening round of team roping as their 8.0 seconds flat performance was the sixth-best time.
Anna Wilder came up big for the UT Martin women's team in barrel racing, placing third in the short round (14.38), fourth in average (28.69) and sixth in the opening go (14.31).
The Skyhawks are right back at it next weekend when they head to Meridian, Miss. for a rodeo hosted by East Mississippi on Thursday, March 12 through Saturday, March 14.
