
Skyhawk Cowboys Establish Season-High In Points At East Mississippi

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's rodeo squad accumulated a season-best 375 points over the weekend at East Mississippi as the Skyhawks placed fourth in the final team standings.
UT Martin's total score on the men's side trailed only Missouri Valley College (710), West Alabama (540) and Pearl River (475) as the Skyhawk cowboys were one of nine teams to accrue points.
UT Martin dominated the calf roping event, led by Bentley Anthony's 21.8 average (second), 11.2 in the opening round (third) and 10.6 in the short go (third). Owen Larrick's 9.3 in the first go was the best time in the field and was also good enough for fourth in average. Caden Ussery ranked second in the short round (10.3) and third in average (23.1) while Clint Southworth split sixth in the opening go with an 11.9.
Anthony was responsible for more points in steer wrestling as the sophomore from Hohenwald, Tenn. placed second in the opening round with a time of 5.5 seconds.
On the women's side, Bekah Legan compiled points in goat tying as her 16.9 average was the sixth-best performance in the field.
A pair of Skyhawk representatives earned points in team roping. Cooper Stone joined East Mississippi's Ryder Griffith to finish third in average (21.5), split third in the short go (13.6) and fourth in the opening round (7.9). Ussery additionally teamed up with Southern Arkansas' Dakota Benight to place sixth in the opening round with a time of 8.3 seconds.
