
UT Martin Welcomes In Alabama A&M To Close Five-Game Homestand

MARTIN, Tenn.- Fresh off a 4-0 week, The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team puts the finishing touches on its five-game homestand when it hosts Alabama A&M on Tuesday, March 31 at 3 p.m.

The Skyhawks (14-13) enter the contest sixth in the country in stolen bases (79) and eighth in doubles (69) while sitting just outside the top 25 in hits (28th, 289) and batting average (29th, .312). On the Ohio Valley Conference leaderboards, UT Martin's pitching staff is fourth in the league in saves with six.

Reigning OVC Player of the Week Andrew Lawrence is riding a four-game hitting streak that includes three doubles, two home runs and an OPS of 1.688. TJ Grines continues to pace the nation in stolen bases (29) and also ranks in the top 25 in runs scored (16th, 37) and doubles (17th, 12). In RBIs in the conference, Colten Payton (33) and TJ Dunsford (32) are the only teammates to reside in the top five, combining for 65.

Right-handed pitcher Jacob Sitton boasts the best ERA in the OVC at 2.11 while Maxwell Schumacher is top 10 in the conference with eight batters struck out looking (fourth in OVC) and 27 total punchouts (10th in OVC). Gabe Bryant (14 strikeouts, team-best out of the bullpen) and Mason Little (10 strikeouts, four saves) lead the Skyhawks in relief appearances with 13 each.
