Skyhawks Drop Doubleheader at Ole Miss Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team fell twice Tuesday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in Oxford. The Rebels topped the Skyhawks, 12-4 in six innings in game one and 10-0 in five innings in game two.
In game one, Avary Makarewicz went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a solo home run, her fifth of the season. Teagan Hayes came in clutch with a pinch-hit RBI single, while Ava Scott also brought in a run and drew two walks. The Skyhawks pounded out eight hits in the game but left six runners on base.
In game two, Kennedy Brown broke up a perfect game attempt by the Rebels in the fourth inning with a single and was followed in the next at-bat by Hayes, who came up with a single of her own.
Next up for the Skyhawks is the opening weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play. UT Martin will make the trip to Saint Charles, Missouri to take on Lindenwood in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
