Harris Named as OVC Pitcher of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Junior Payton Harris of the University of Tennessee at Martin Softball team has been named as the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Despite not earning a decision on the week, Harris finished the Blue Raider Classic with a 0.80 ERA over eight innings pitched. On Saturday, Harris tossed five hitless and scoreless innings against Akron before being relieved, while striking out three. The Clarksville, Tennessee, native finished the week allowing just one run on three hits with six strikeouts, while limiting opponents to a .111 average.
Harris is not the second pitcher and third Skyhawk overall to earn a weekly honor from the league this season. Avary Makarewicz and Sami Scholtz swept the weekly awards as player and pitcher, respectively, in week two of the season.
Harris and the Skyhawks have a busy week ahead of them with a doubleheader at Ole Miss Tuesday and the first series of conference play at Lindenwood on Saturday and Sunday.
