MARTIN, Tenn. – The lone regular season home contest on the 2026 University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball schedule is set to take place tomorrow as the Skyhawks collide against Ohio Valley Conference rival Chattanooga. First serve is set for 4 p.m. with Senior Day festivities scheduled for approximately 3:45 p.m.
Kristin Phillips and Riley Rushing will be recognized for their career contributions prior to the home opener. An Orient, Ohio native, Phillips has accumulated 18 victories and ranks in the top-10 in school history in OVC winning percentage – posting a victory in 82 percent of her matchups against league rivals. In the classroom, she is a three-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient. Rushing has captured 19 victories in a UT Martin uniform, exclusively competing at No. 1 or No. 2. Her .579 winning percentage at No. 1 ranks as the third-best mark in program history. The Snowmass Village, Colo. product brought home an OVC Medal of Honor last season for a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average.
Tomorrow's matchup is a heavyweight showdown of the last nine OVC champions as the Skyhawks won five regular season and tournament titles from 2022-24 while the Mocs have claimed a share of the last four league championships since 2024. This match also serves as the only chance for fans to watch UT Martin at home until the program hosts the 2026 OVC Championship event, which will be held on Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.
The Skyhawks went 3-1 in their season-opening tournament last weekend at Mercer. UT Martin's No. 2 tandem of Kayla Bryant/Reagan McGee went 4-0 to lead a Skyhawk squad that combined to win 15 of their 20 individual matchups. Rushing/Dylan Sulcer (No. 1), Andie Kryak/Amara Traiger (No. 3) and Phillips/MC Rehm (No. 5) each went 3-1 while UT Martin's No. 3 pair of Luli Arcucci/Lauren Mariscal split their four matchups.
Chattanooga (5-3) has won five straight decisions, including a four-match sweep of the Stache Bash in Clarksville, Tenn. last weekend. The Mocs return All-OVC performers McKenna Faychak, Ansley Gulledge, Sydney Jackwin, Julia Lawrence, Maddie Lecik and Corina Vale from last spring.
